πŸ“° Greetings

I have upgraded the on to stop the bad practice of duplicate tweets intended to increase click-thru.

Here's the lineup of what I'm repeating on Mastodon:

@BreakingNews πŸ“°

@NPR - National Public Radio πŸ“»

@BBCRadio4 - BBC Radio 4 πŸ“»

@darkstockphotos 😜

@WHYY - WHYY Philadelphia πŸ“Ί

@6abc - WPVI Philadelphia πŸ“Ί

@thehill - The Hill (all posts behind CW)

@9to5Mac - Apple rumors/breaking news ο£Ώ

@Slashdot - Tech aggregator πŸ“±

@saltygaylord @kenzo The pattern changed again and now the links are popping back up---I have to figure out why the links don't match the regex that's detecting them.

The change I just made is to get rid of the practice of a news site duplicating a previous post by putting their article in a queue that posts and reposts over and over to drive click-through. If the first 20 characters or the last 20 characters match something they've posted within the last 100 tweets it's tossed.

@saltygaylord @kenzo The links are OK to click but if it says or it's gonna direct to birdsite obviously to pull it up.

I probably have no choice but to have the bot visit the links and resolve where they're going to in order to get rid of the twitter presence in the link.'

@trayofbees @kenzo well I appreciate the service. I'm in South Jersey, so having local news in my feed is important to me. Thank you.
