GNU Emacs Manual 18th edition (FSF): Brief Review
Confession: I ordered myself a copy of the GNU Emacs Manual, 18th ed. which I have read from cover to cover -- finally! Though I had read parts of the Manual before, I had never read it through systematically. I ordered the large size print edition from the FSF and wish to note the following: a) It is beautifully print…

Is there a way to link together TODOs in org mode
My usual workflow is to keep a large number of TODOs in one central list and then assign them to myself daily in a separate area, like so:

* Stuff to do ** TODO a thing * [Today's Date] ** TODO a thing

Ideally when I update the status of the TODO under Today's date, the TODO under Stuff to do would also be updated. …

Evil sed style substitution
I don't use evil anymore but I think it has this killer feature. When substituting via the Ex command s/search/replace/ you get live preview of the matching strings and also the replacements. It's really convenient when you quite don't remember all regexp details with first try and can experiment a bit.

I'd like to have this feature withou…

Where do you add variables in spacemacs?
I'm fairly new to emacs so I don't really understand the .spacemacs file very well. I would like to change the auto-save settings so that the file I am editing gets saved every time I make a change. I looked here spacemacs.org/doc/DOCUMENTATIO and found that I need to change two variables "dotspacemacs-…

Get Emacs to show a list of all possible customizable variables and faces, and their default values?
In Vim, the help documentation lists all of the possible options a user can possibly set in their configuration file. Here is a link to reference what I am talking about (see "3. Options summary" line 608):

Why don't the community support refactoring of emacs in common lisp with more enthusiasm?
I'm a huge emacs fan. But that's all I am. I have struggled a lot to incorporate it in my workflow but failed. Enough about me. I wanted to say that emacs community always says that emacs has the most elegant language system to configure it. But I've also heard by many emacs enth…

I want to disable specific keybinding.
I installed dumb-jump mode. but its package use C-M-p binding. It's originally backward-list in emacs.

I use backward-list many times So I want to disable this keybinding.

I added ( global-unset-key (kbd "C-M-p")) but it's not unset. How can U disable this keybinding and recover original keybinding?
